The Bean Academy – 4th Day

Fourth day of the Bean Academy! Teenagers participated in activities to develop job skills, and tips about how to behave in a job interview, and to build a résumé. We also discussed how they can keep themselves motivated and proactive.
In the afternoon they learned how to garde coffee beans, roast in a sample roaster and the process of coffee cupping. They also were takes to our wet mill structure to learn how the defective beans are sorted out and, finally how the coffee is packed.

The Bean Academy is our new project that will make difference in the lives of 15 teenagers. The kids that participate in this one-week program are from a rural school in an underprivileged area close to the farm. The workshops develop personal and professional skills such as: personal values, communication, leadership and so on, as well as coffee skills, from basic coffee growing principles to grading, roasting, cupping and barista skills.
